Introduction | [edit] |
Welcome!
Welcome to the Columbus wiki! The goal is to make this a comprehensive resource for people who live here (Columbusites?) written by other people who live here: If Arthur Dent moved to Columbus, this would be his Hitchhiker's Guide.
Like any city, Columbus has its intricacies. After a few years of living here, one learns how to best navigate on gameday, where to find good sushi, and the history of local landmarks. Unfortunately, resources for sharing this knowledge are scarce. Travel guides are helpful, but often only for people who are visiting the city. What is missing is a resource for people who already live here to share their favorite things about the town. The aim of the Columbus Wiki is to fill this gap, with your help. The Columbus Wiki isn't written by a travel agency or a journalist: it is an organic creation of the town itself.
That said, there aren't many rules as to what can and cannot be written here. There are, of course, the common pages about restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping centers, but the wiki really thrives when people contribute unique things about Columbus, like where to find free public WiFi, their favorite graffiti, and why there seems to be classical music
blaring at that one UDF.
So don't worry about writing formal and objective reviews about your favorite restaurant, just contribute what you have to say. The Wiki isn't as much a travel guide as it is an underground guide to the city.

Editing Pages
Many wiki pages have been linked to that don't exist yet. This usually means that these topics would be worth writing up. To help with a page that is linked to, but not yet written up, go to Wanted_Pages and find something interesting.
New Pages
Only you can help build the Columbus Wiki.
One of the best ways to help the Columbus Wiki grow and become useful is to contribute totally new information. The kicker: it doesn't really even matter how relevant it is. If it's useful it will be linked to. If it isn't, no biggie: it's not taking up any space.
To create a new page, first use the search box in the upper right to look for your intended topic. If it isn't there, click the link to create a new page with this title. Lastly, think about where you should link to your page. For example: If you have written an article about the best place to walk your dog in the city, you might want to link to your page on the article about pets.
